AGM and IT Governance & AudIT

Tuesday 4th May 6:15 p.m.
PricewaterhouseCoopers, 2-3 Bloomsbury Square, London WC1A 2RL

This event was in association with PwC.

How much do you know about IT governance and IT-related audit?

For most IT people, the answer may well be “Not a lot”. Yet the impact and relevance of these key topics affects the work of most IT people and spreads to reach many IT-related aspects of our organisations, including IT risk management.

We will consider many aspects of governance (i.e. about managing IT to support and extend the enterprise), risk management (including identification, evaluation, and ongoing assessment), and audit (including ‘what’ risks, assets etc. to audit and ‘why’, internal controls and physical security, and risk-based audit planning).

Whether you are a novice or expert, come to this event to learn more and discuss these key topics with our very experienced presenter and others.

Linux and Open Source Software are getting more acceptance, both in the enterprise and with home users. A very large percentage of the Internet is powered by Open Source Software. Some heavyweight companies such as IBM are even giving the Open Source movement strong support - is it just another trend, or are we about to see a real revolution? Why should one consider a migration to Open Source? How does it compare? Does it really reduce Total Cost of Ownership? What are the possible migration strategies?

We also talked about the history of Linux and the birth of the Open Source movement. What beliefs unite Open Source developers and made them so strongly passionate about what they do.

Can You DigIT? - Digital Rights Management

Wednesday 10th March 6:15 p.m.

Most copyright material today can be digitised and made available to people all over the world via the Internet. But piracy has always been a problem for the creators and publishers of intellectual property.
Has the Internet made the problem even worse than before?
To what extent can Digital Rights Management (DRM) help?

At this event we’ll look at many aspects of DRM, and consider issues such as:

  • Can organisations effectively protect their digital rights and assets?
  • What technology-based solutions are available, and how effective are they?
  • How can providers and consumers of intellectual property make the most of our Internet-enabled world?
